The cylinder dies. The rebate stack is the confusing part.

$2,000 out of pocket

~280 L · running $50/yr vs $856 now. Payback about 3.4 years on grid rates · faster if we solar-soak it ($50/yr).

Indicative: STC $570 · VEEC $630 · Solar Homes $1,000. Cupboard installs often cannot take a heat pump — that is a site look.

Call. We can swap, then still claim the certificates that apply.

Cupboard tanks

Heat pumps need air. Inside cupboards often cannot take one — that is a site look, not a web form.

Solar soak

If the array already exports at lunch, this thing heats water at 6 c instead of 32 c. A $400 timer on an electric tank can beat a battery for the first few kWh.

Gas working fine

Don’t rip out a healthy gas unit for the spreadsheet. Do it when it dies, or when you want the gas supply charge gone.

Pairing a heat pump with a new array is often the first electrify job that pays. The solar builder has it as an extra.
